That is, they are unless something else is wrong. The FW adds a bit, but the audio buffers in the computer are usually the biggest contributor.
P.S.That has a lot in common, but doesn't include the computer posting audio buffers to digital (which then go over FW to the Motif). In conclusion, I think one should perhaps have more than one VST instrument and choose the best one for a particular timbre. On the other hand, I wish Finale can have magnetic layout, versions, ideas and some visual enhancements.
That is the only real problem I have with Sibelius. I really wish Sibelius will simplify the use of VST's like in Finale. For those who are interested, I use Finale AND Sibelius 6. As you stated, realism is very important and thanks for your kind words. I'll be most pleased if someone can instruct me on tweaking the brass'. The reeds and strings sound VERY good, like one would find in Mozart's symphonies etc. I have listened (downloaded) all their demo mp3 but cannot get one where the brass sounds 'brassy' like one finds in Shostakovitch's symphonies, film music and the like. I find that Garritan is excellent for classical music. It sounded like a small chamber orchestra. I just could not get it to sound like a loud philharmonic orchestra. I've been drumming 'realism' into the heads of my music tech students for years and I'll point them to this clip as an example of what can be achieved if you work hard enough! I take it you've listened to the demos on the Garritan site?Īnyway, congratulations on what you did with Star Wars. We've moved on since then with more articulations and playing techniques in the sounds.
